world sound • melodic inva$ion.
World, Last month a super talented duo from Amsterdam made a stop in Philly to share their sounds, and connect. The team is known as La Melodia, and are no rookies to rocking systems with releases based in Japan and Holland. Holding it down for women on the int'l emcee tip, Melodee works vox as her partner I.N.T. pumps out crazy bass-y hip-hop-laced goodness. It was actually my first time meeting the pair in person, but Melodee and I have been connecting via the net for a few months and are planning some future collaborations on some Suzilla tracks (!!!) These are good people, and refreshing to meet. We did some Philly sightseeing (ha), and kicked it in a session just playing each other $ounds. I'm pretty geeked about our future collaborations. To me it is amazing to be able connect with like-minded [female] artists everywhere. From country to country, we share such similar motivations, challenges, and hopes for the future of this wicked music game. I think It would be a good idea to get to know these kids if not familar with their music because based on their sounds, they are here to stay. Open up to their sound: + La Melodia Myspace + Future Vintage Radio • hosted by Melodee $tay Tuned. +$@ Labels: Amsterdam, Beats, ill SGHIT, La Melodia, Philadelphia, Women Killin it.

Old Japan | kamakura • yokohama
World, I lived in Tokyo nearly half a year, and before I left I realized I never left. Simple city altruism I believe. It happens to people in every city I know...the simple inquiry pulls at you as you say to yourself:"why would I want to leave? everything is around me." False. This go-round, I got out of the city and traveled to Yokohama, which is understood to be Japan's L.A. to NYC (Tokyo). I noticed definite changes in the pace, fashion, and amount of space....a rarity in the prefectures of Tokyo But most importantly, I got to breathe in some fresh air. And for once, I let my guard down and played tourist. Coma-Chi and I traveled to Kamakura. A beachtown known also for it's many temples, spooky bamboo forrest, and legendary Diabatsu: the giant Buddha. We visited as much as we could that day before becoming totally wiped out. It was dope to see the real Japan, outside of the hypercity of Tokyo. There were all sorts of treasures. oddly enough the kanji reads: "komachi street" Dango: Japanese sweet rice dumpling. No clue what to compare it to but it's good. Teeny tiny boiled fish. Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū Madd school kids and sake. What a mix. The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a monumental outdoor bronze statuueof Amitābha Buddha in the Kōtoku-in Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is believed that the statue was originally cast in 1252, following an idea by the priest Joko, who also collected donations to build it. The sculptors were One-Goroemon and Tanji-Hisatomo. Details
It's apparent that we've all got some big shoes to fill to inspire our world. Start today. Stay tuned. Labels: Coma-Chi, Hi-Fi Queens, ill SGHIT, Japan, Kamakura

Love Travelin' • Tokyo [Pt.1]
World, I'm back safely on the other side of the earth: in Philly again. Just a week spent in Tokyo and I feel refreshed and re-motivated. This week, I will try and re-cap what went down through pics & vids. I arrived there on last Saturday night (U.S. Friday) and got to make a pit stop at the JazzySport house in Gakudei-daigaku where I build with Coma-Chi & Grooveman Spot (linnk) awhile before heading to an all-Japanese hip-hop night with Coma-chi in Shibuya. It was dope to see all the innovations of hip-hop- from hardcore to the Native Tongue-style all under one roof and delivered through Japanese. How come I never see that much variety here anymore? I've got madd footage of it all, it'll be uploaded soon. Monday was a good day. Coma-Chi's 2nd major release 'Love Me Please' (a concept album all about the struggles of folks face in love) dropped 6/10, and as promo, an advertisement bus was made to circulate and play her music in Shibuya, Harajuku & Shinjuku. We traveled to Shinkiba, bayside in Yokohama to watch them build the bus: Labels: Coma-Chi, Grooveman Spot, Hi-Fi Queens, ill SGHIT, Love Me Please

はい!
![]() It's been super hectic the last few weeks of my life. Starting at graduation, to a series of shows in N.Y.C., to shooting a video for Good Reason, there hasn't been a minute to sit down. So, in keeping that up, i'll be flying out to Tokyo again this Friday. In addition to getting away, I'll be shooting more footage for my documentary on to emergence of female voice in Japanese youth culture...aka '33 Queen', a biopic on my favorite lady Coma-Chi, writing and working on some new songs for me and Coma-Chi's project Hi-Fi Queens, and conducting interviews for an upcoming academic work on globalism in Japanese and French subcultures. That's a lot to say for a stay the duration of the week, but I don't sleep kid! If you are still with me from the last time I was in Tokyo, you know all the illness that will ensue. This time, I am geeked to be staying with the Jazzysport crew in their crib in Gakudei-daigaku. I've got no idea what the house will be like, but per DJ LeftOoOo's description, sounds like it'll be a funky good time. My personal tourist-y goals: 1. Lotteria Shrimp Burger 2. Liquor, Woman, Tears & SWGR [Takeshita Dori] 3. Kenji (massive Tokyo thrift spot) 4. Mayyybe, just maybe Okinawa if there's time. 5. Nailllll$$$ 6. 300¥ izikaya in Shibuya For all the lovers + friends keeping up, let's have a laugh on this hump day with a blast to my past MADD BABY Blogs, a series of vlog musings I recorded about my experiences in Tokyo. I'm not sure if i'll do many vlogs this go round, but i'm definitely going to go crazy with the DSLR. I've got a mass of updates coming. (think: Mixtape, Klipm0de, NEW MUSIC) Stay tuuuned.
