The artist Red found his way into our wavelengths & hearts a little less than a year ago when someone at HVW8, an art collective in L.A. caught video of him performing the nastiest beatboxing behind the building. The way he interlaced the funk, a scarily super-deep subwoofer sound, and unforgettable melody made us all aware that Red was no rookie in music. The plot thickened when we learned that Red was at the time homeless and caught up in a situation that few of us fathom. Well, good news for the world, Red has been working professionally with HVW8 and has an iTunes release scheduled for this Thursday 7.23 for his track "I Should Tell Ya Mama On You". This is definitely going to be a gem, with mixes of the track coming from Dam-Funk, CHOPS.

For many reason, Red's story is inspirational to me and represents the way art can work to create change in the universe. It's big to me that we support. It's also a msg to all, to never stop sharing your strengths, no matter what situation is trying to weigh you down. Tune into you.

Philadelphia is home of the Ra-Arkestra house, and the ICA in West Philly has been holding events all month to commemorate this man's legacy and music. The truth is, if there were no Ra, a lot of musicians you couldn't live without now wouldn't be doing the same things, in the same ways. If you are curious to get into his sound and legacy, Sun-Ra: Lectric will be a good place to start.

Mykolo Dosenko (link) is a near & dear artist/design'r to me. Hailing from the Ukraine, his ultra-creative pieces are a fusion of his love for pop culture, of all cultures. His mixed art combines, anime, 8-bit, hip-hop, pop-art, and digitalism, and sports. Not just a digital designer, Myk keeps a regularly updated sketchbook to sharpen his skills, pictures, and videos. He actually created the opening sequence for NNXT MSG. His brain is surely a wonderland.

Recently his video for Kanye's Robocop was featured on white-screen.jp, a Japanese online mag for filmmakers. The video is amazing because Myk created all the graphics himself. No dubs. Yeezy, don't sleep on this vid!!!

Catching up with hundreds of photos I have to share here, but these photos were taken by the great Masaya Fantasista, creator of the Jazzy Sport label.

A few weeks ago in Gakudeidaigaku I worked on a session with the production group Breakthrough (link), which consists of Masaya, DJ Jin, and DSK Invisible, and has produced originals and remixes with DJ Mitsu Beats, GAGLE, Cro-Magnon, Sa-Ra, IG Culture and more. This cut was a demo cut for their upcoming album. I was having quite a time on the Korg Polysix, na$ty analogue sounds all around.

Dealing with way wacked out technology slows up any good process, but have finally managed to post my most favorite vlog yet, NNXT Me$$age.

I got the idea to start NNXT Message from working on the documentary '33 Queen' in Tokyo. I really started to love the nuances of documentary, and began to wonder what would happen if a broadcast persepctive + documentary aesthethic ever met, and what I could do with that?
I've got a LOT of footage from this past trip to Japan. Some I want to save for a final cut of '33 Queen', some I want to let out, some I just want to have...it's not easy feat figuring out what to do with 11 gigs of video.

Enter, NNXT MSG. I'll be creating these videos as a series', so definitely be on the lookout.
